The Sidney Camera Club
In 1992 an enthusiastic group of amateur photographers formed the Sidney Shutterbugs Camera Club to share their passion for photography. Their mission was to provide a social venue for photographers of all skill levels to come together to learn and share their knowledge and photographic techniques in a welcoming and friendly environment.
The club, renamed The Sidney Camera Club in 2023, has remained true to that original vision through a combination of online and in-person meetings twice a month, guest presenters, location shoots, friendly photography competitions and social activities. The club has a presence in the Sidney community through annual photo exhibits at the Mary Winspear Centre and the Shoal Centre as well as providing photographic support each year to three major community events:Treat Street (Halloween); Photos with Santa; and Family Fun Fair (July 1st celebrations).
The Sidney Camera Club is enriched through connections with other photo clubs and associations. Examples are: membership in the BC/ Yukon Inter-Club Group, the Canadian Association for Photographic Art and the Photographic Society of America.
