Next Meeting:
*Sidney Camera Club Season Opener: 6:00- 7:00 pm, Tuesday, September 8th. The Sidney Camera Club will kick off the 2026-27 club year with an informal reception at the Mary Winspear Centre from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. Everyone welcome!
*The first meeting of the Sidney Camera Club’s 2026-27 year will be held on Tuesday, September 8th, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at MWC. The meeting program will include information on upcoming club events such as location shoots, the first competition of the year and an explanation of the rules relating to the submission of images to competitions in the Nature/Wildlife category. The feature presentation of the evening, by club member Peter Koelbleitner, will focus on the creation of videos to show your photographs.

2026 CAPA Coast-to-Coast Photo Walk, and Location Shoot, September 19th:
The Canadian Association for Photographic Art (CAPA) is thrilled to announce the 2nd Annual 2026 CAPA Coast-to-Coast Photo Walk, happening all day on Saturday, September 19th. As part of this national event the Sidney Camera Club invites both members and non-member photographers of all levels to join in a two hour walk through Sidney to the waterfront for street photography and sea-side shots to capture images of our beautiful hometown to share with others across the country. The walk will begin at the Mary Winspear Centre at 3:30 pm and end at the bandshell at the waterfront at 5:30 pm.

Competitions:
* September Theme Competition is“Nature/Wildlife.”
The competition is now open with the closing date for submission of September 11th. These images will be judged at our first Judge's Eye Evening on Sept 22 by CAPA judges Michael Murchison, Nick Delaney and Leah Gray. These choices will help determine our club entry to the CAPA competition.
* SPAC: Artist's Point of View: Competition is open.
Closing date October 13th. The "Point of View" (POV) Competition is a competition & exhibit, sponsored by the Saanich Peninsula Arts and Crafts (SPAC) Society. Through this competition, SPAC seeks an image from the Sidney Camera Club that sparks artist imagination & becomes part of a subsequent artists' exhibit at the Mary Winspear Centre.
